Get Kids Moving and Mindful with GoNoodle GoSummer

This post is brought to you by GoNoodle and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever heard the term “GoNoodling?” Then you will want to read this post! I don’t know about your kids, but as soon as summer begins, my kids think that they should have unlimited screen time. Unfortunately, for them, that wish will never be granted. BUT, I am excited to let them GoNoodle!  GoNoodle is free kids content that is actually fun, plus it is parent and teacher approved. It’s not your average content, it has dance-alongs, yoga videos, mindfulness activities, and other awesomely active and fun ways to move!  It’s screen time that parents can trust and appreciate.

What Makes GoNoodle Different from Other Programming?

GoNoodle promotes moving and creates opportunities for kids to wake up their bodies, engage their minds. All content on GoNoodle has been created to energize or calm, stimulate or relax, recharge or focus the body and mind. No more sitting around and checking out in front of a screen. In my opinion, this is a win win. The kids will get the screen time they want, and I get kids being creative, moving and learning new things.

Get Kids Moving and Mindful with GoNoodle GoSummer

Beginning  Between May 27 through August 15, GoNoodle will launch their GoSummer programming…and it sounds super cool! It has been specially developed for kids to play at home and will include a bunch of new “How-to” videos  to keep kids active and learning all summer long. There will be two new videos every week, so kids can learn new tips, tricks, and crafts all summer long. The videos are two to seven minutes in length and will show kids how to do things from card tricks to making slime. SLIME???!!! Gotta love it.

For a quick sneak peek at the kind of content you can expect from GoNoodle GoSummer, check out this fun, engaging How To video: How to Make a Fortune Teller.

Kids can work together to achieve fun goals. If students collectively achieve “15 Million Minutes of Movement and Mindfulness” this summer, GoNoodle will unlock a new GoNoodle Champ. GoNoodle Champs are characters in the app who have unique personalities and encourage kids to stay active to grow and succeed. The new Champ will be available for kids to enjoy when they are back in school this Fall.

The kids and I spent a whole afternoon checking out GoNoodle. We found a bunch of fun games and tutorials. We learneg some dance moves we didn’t know and also so easy and super fun games. The best thing was that everyone had fun and there was no fighting! That is a win in my book.

We even learned to Floss!

Is GoNoodle Educational?

Yes! GoNoodle is trusted by teachers. Everything on GoNoodle is developed by child development and education experts. It has been used in 80% of U.S. elementary schools this year…over 14 million total students! Chances are that your child has already been GoNoodling at school.

Is the GoNoodle App Safe for Kids?

All GoNoodle’s content is Y-7. There aren’t any inappropriate ads to be worried about. This is such a biggie for me. Lately, even the apps and videos I have trusted have snuck ads and commercials I would not have expected. It’s becoming harder and harder for us as parents to monitor this stuff!

I am super excited to add GoNoodle to our summer routine. Although we like to be out and about most of the summer, there are many days when we are stuck at home. Being a work at home mom, I still need time to focus on my work. During this time, my kids can be GoNoodling, and I can watch them enjoying themselves and not feel the guilt that they are wasting the day away in front of screens.

Getting started with GoNoodle is easy and free!Download the GoNoodle app available for Android, iOS device, Apple TV, or Roku onto your device. Then, simply visit the GoNoodle homepage and click “Start GoNoodling.” I’m looking forward to seeing my kids learn yoga, some new dance moves, and create some fun crafts. Gosh…I wouldn’t mind learning some new dance moves right along with them!

Celebrate National Best Friends Day with LEGO Batman

today is National Best Friends Day! and what better way to celebrate than by building some LEGO Batman sets. my boys are usually pretty nice to each other, but when it comes to playing with Legos, that is when they become the best of friends. it’s so cute to watch them play together and see the excitement in their eyes when they see the creations that each other has built.

lately, our LEGO building has been all about LEGO Batman. ever since we went to see the The LEGO Batman Movie, my boys have been obsessed with collection each and every one of the LEGO Batman mini figures. can you believe it…we manage to find them all!

plus there are a bunch of fun LEGO Batman set….all inspired by The LEGO Batman movie. did you know The LEGO Batman Movie is coming to BLU-RAY and DVD ?!!! it will be released on June 13th!

the emotional core of the The LEGO Batman movie is Batman finally opening up and allowing himself to be part of a family again. he had to push past the fear of losing those closest to him and realize that having friends and family makes life worth living. the main message about the film is to allow those around you to help you be a better person – an extremely important message when it comes to Batman.

i love that my boys are enjoying building the LEGO Batman sets – and building them with your best friends makes it even more fun!

if you’ve seen The LEGO Batman Movie, you’ve probably heard the song “Friends are Family – Oh Hush!” by Will Arnett and Jeff Lewis. you can find it on the LEGO Batman Soundtrack….a perfect song to celebrate Best Friends Day! as the song goes at the end of the film, “You’re my best friend my best friend and friends are family”.

{Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, we received LEGO Batman LEGO sets from LEGO to facilitate this post.}

My Family Has Fallen in LOVE with Nintendo

every once in a while, i am presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. something so cool that my boys didn’t sleep for a week when they found out. late last year, we were invited to the Nintendo Headquarters in Washington. you probably saw pictures from our adventure on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but i haven’t shared it on the blog yet. with it being the end of my pregnancy….the very last airplane flight my doctor would allow, and then having a newborn, i have been a bit behind in sharing. but i thought it was the perfect time to share since this past weekend was the release of Nintendo’s newest game system, the Nintendo Switch!!!!

the reason we were invited up to the Nintendo Headquarters was to one, learn more about the Nintendo brand, two, Nintendo wanted to know from parents any questions or ideas we had for Nintendo, and three, to have fun! so we boarded onto a plan and headed up to Washington.

for this trip, i took the youngest boys. they were over the moon to go on a plane for the first time. i can’t believe they have never flown before…but we tend to go road tripping instead on our vacations. Nintendo sent them Nintendo 3DS game systems so that they could try them out and use them on the plane. i have to admit that i’ve never considered getting the boys a portable game system because i didn’t think they were very good quality or worth the money, but i was wrong. these Nintendo 3DS’s were amazing on our trip.

this was Vann’s face when the plane was taking off! it was really loud and also exciting for him.

and when we arrived in Seattle, Vann yelled out “Look Mom, there’s New York!” LOL

the next morning, we woke up bright and early and headed over to Nintendo Headquarters…we were in for a full day of Nintendo fun.

did you notice my son’s Super Mario Vans shoes? he got them for school and just loves them. of course we had to wear them to Nintendo headquarters….starting the day in style.

We spent the day learning about the Nintendo brand and what products are offered, we also got a tour of the building and plenty of time to play and learn how to play fun games on our Nintendo 3DSs. We weren’t allowed to take many pictures inside the Nintendo headquarters building, so i don’t have a lot of pictures from our day there. But i do have these.

our favorite game of the trip was called Animal Crossing. in this game you can make friends with adorable animal villagers and have fun creating a world of your own. you can even cross over into other player’s worlds. you can also purchase Amiibos, which i just learned about, and have them come alive in the game. this is seriously SO FUN! aren’t they cute?!!!!

i would say the main event of the day for the kids was playing their 3DS games. I would say that after learning about how family friendly Nintendo is, i am hooked. there are so many games available that kids and adults could enjoy playing. and i see many family fun nights happening in the near future. as soon as we get our hands on a Nintendo Switch, it’s going to be grown-up vs. the kids!!!!
it was finally time to head home. my final trip before having the baby was complete, leaving my with memories of a special time with mom that they will never forget. looks like they had too much fun!thank you Nintendo! we had a great time and look forward to spending time as a family enjoying the Nintendo brand.

we also had a few blogging friends that were on the trip with us as well. they wrote some cool Nintendo posts too! you can read them here:

Helping My Kids Feel Their Best with OLLY Kids Gummy Vitamins

Vann Watering the Gardenas parents we are constantly worried that our children are getting the right nutrition. it’s not always easy to know if they are getting the right vitamins and minerals in their diets. i personal do all that i can to make sure my boys are getting the best quality foods, but now that they are older, i can’t always be with them at every meal. i don’t have control over how much of their school lunches they eat. i’ve tried to help them appreciate good and healthy food – including planting a large garden that provides our family fruits and vegetables. the boys help me water and weed it every afternoon, and they find joy in seeing the plants grow and then getting to eat them. however, this produce isn’t always enough. luckily, i can supplement their diets with vitamins. which makes me happy to have partnered with Olly Kids Vitamin Boosts – a new kind of vitamins for kids that parents can feel good about giving to their kids!

Family Game Competition with Hasbro

This is part of a paid Hasbro series for Socialstars™

we’ve had so much fun playing and sharing about some of our favorite Hasbro games, that we thought it would be fun to share the idea of having a family game competition between all three games we shared with you – the Hungry Hungry Hippos game, Monopoly Empire game and Pie Face game. of course, playing all three of these games multiple times is going to take an entire evening…but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! Just order a pizza or make a fun dinner, and have lots of snacks and treats on hand. Make sure everyone has their game faces on, because once the games get started…there’s no telling when it’s going end. you tend to lose track of time when you are having a fun family game night!

to make the family game competition legit, I created this fun printable Game Night Score Card to keep score. this is just a fun way to keep track of who wins each round. this way you can have winners. either one winner for each game, or a winner for all the games in total. or both! And then for the prizes, some simple treats…but make everyone share, because it is just supposed to be fun and games.

Free-Printable-Gamescore-Card-AD-1so you’ve got the food. check. you’ve got the games. check. you’ve got the scorecard. check. you’ve got the whipped cream. check. and the family. check. now it’s time to play!!!!!

what I love most about these games is that each is good for a different age range, and each family member is going to have their favorite. my youngest, Vann, LOVES the Hungry Hungry Hippos game…I too love this game. This one is quick, so playing it five times in a row will not take very much time. you might even want to play it more.

Fun-Games-for-Rainy-Days #adFun-Games-for-Kids #adnext you’ve gotta play the Pie Face game. My middle son, Kyle, loves this one…actually, everyone loves it.

Pie Face Game Review copyFun with Pie Face Game copyafter you are done playing the Pie Face game, it’s time to play the Monopoly Empire game. this is my favorite game. i’ve always liked playing the classic Monopoly game since I was a kid, but sometimes the original version takes a long time to play. but, the Monopoly Empire game can be played pretty fast, and it’s especially cool for the kiddies because they recognize the current brands. it also has some new tricks, with cards that allow you to switch game pieces and block people. and you still get to deal with money!

Fun-new-Monopoly-GameMonopoly moneyMonopoly-Empire-Game-Piecethe boys and i have loved getting back into games and also finding more favorites. we have been having a lot more game nights, which has been great bonding times for our family. summertime is coming up, so i see many game nights in our future…plus with the neighbors! how fun would a game night be with friends…. maybe a family against family competition!!!! yes. that would be “AWESOME” says the kids.

click here for you FREE printable Game Night Score Card. i’ve also included a version without the games written in the spaces, just in case you have other family favorites. enjoy!
