Family Fun on the New Slides at Knott’s Soak City

Knott’s Soak City has opened for summer and we couldn’t be more excited! and what’s even better, is that this year, Soak City has some great new slides, more cabanas and a new restaurant with yummy new food options. Knott’s invited our family to check it out a couple of weeks ago and we were really impressed. here’s what you have to look forward to when you visit the waterpark.

this was the first time we have visited a waterpark as a family of six! i was nervous bringing a baby, but it ended up being fine…and i even dipped her toes in the cool water.
our first stop of the day was the new waterslides. Knott’s Soak City just opened 7 new slides. we were able to attend the ribbon cutting with Snoopy himself and the mayor of Buena Park just before heading over to check out the new slides.

The Wedge slide is an open air family raft ride was our favorite. up to six guests at a time can ride through twists, turns and surprise drops. even Vann could ride it since the height requirement is only 42 inches barefoot. as you can see, he really loved it. my brother in-law and niece loved it too!

Shore Break Towers is over seven stories tall and and has two  different kinds of slides. one has guests climbing inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume. and then there are  dueling tube slides that zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns. the height requirements for all of the Shore Break slides are 48 inches barefoot. the older boy rode the tube slide…but everyone except dad was too scared to ride the drop-out side. yikes! but so many people we loving it.

next up was the lazy river, which is our family’s favorite ride at Soak City. perfect for all ages to relax and lounge around in while enjoying the SoCal summer sun.

after a few times around, it was time for baby Dani and i to chill out in the cabana we rented. i was worried the baby would get to much sun, so we decided that we should rent one. it was a great choice because we could order food, hang out on the lounge chairs, and it came with 4 tube rentals, so the kids didn’t have to wait to get them on the rides.nice and shady!we ordered some food from Soak City’s new restaurant, Longboard’s Grill. there are a lot of new food choices such as sandwiches, wraps, hand-breaded chicken tenders, pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries and onion rings. it was all pretty yummy!

then it was time for some more water fun. the boys ran off to ride some of the big slides….

and Dani, Kyle and i hung out in the wave pool. well actually, we just sat on the edge and got our feet wet. maybe in a couple of years this little girl will be ready to enjoy the waves!

next up was the Gremmie Lagoon. Vann loves this area the most. it’s perfect for little ones, with shallow water, mini slides, extra lifeguards and fun water features to play in.

finally, you can’t go to Knott’s Soak City without playing at the Soak City Beach House and getting wet and splashed in the Harbor Waterworks. every few minutes, the giant red bucket dumps hundreds of gallons of water on everyone below.

it’s always fun time when we spend the day at Knott’s Soak City. we are lucky there is such a great waterpark in our very own backyards. it’s the place to be on a hot day in Orange County. look for our family the next time you visit….we’ll probably be there too!{Disclosure: We were invited guests of Knott’s Soak City. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. }

this year there will be over 80 unique boysenberry inspired food and beverage options available for guests to try throughout Ghost Town! like meatballs with boysenberry barbecue sauce….

Halloween Family Fun at Knott’s Camp Spooky

if you are looking for a family-friendly Halloween activity to do in Southern California, may i suggest Knott’s Camp Spooky at Knott’s. you already know that i’m a big fan of Knott’s Berry Farm (psst…i even used to work there). and i’m an even bigger fan of Knott’s during the holiday seasons…especially Halloween. it brings back memories of watching “The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” when i was a little girl because the Camp Snoopy park of Knott’s is decorated with Peanuts characters from that movie.

in Camp Spooky the entire Peanuts Gang are dressed up in their Halloween costumes. Snoopy and Woodstock have our hearts.

i love the festive decorations that make the entire place light up for Halloween with just a bit of spookiness.

kids can Trick-or-Treating throughout the park. there is no additional fee, it is including in the general admission price. sweet treats given out at five different Trick-or-Treating locations in Camp Spooky.

you can also visit It’s The Great Pumpkin Hay-Maze and see charming scenes from the Peanuts movie–”It’s the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown.”

kids can also participate in”Kooky Cookie Painting” (a small fee applies). i love that i don’t have to worry about the icing and sprinkles getting all over my house.

and while you are enjoying your cookies, the whole family can enjoy “Scary Stories at the Lodge” where story tellers tell the craziest, creepiest, silliest tales this side of the “Great Pumpkin Patch”.

also included with theme park admission, you can go to the Camp Spooky Theatre “Charlie Brown’s Spooktacular Show”, you will be singing and dancing in the aisles to all your favorite Halloween tunes. kids of all ages can explore the wacky hijinks of the Monster Factory, a fun interactive maze where the little ones create the things that go bump in the night. visit the “Creepy Crawly Critter Cave” where Knott’s park naturalists will amaze with slithery, slimy, creepy, crawly critters. and don’t forget to head over to Ghost Town…it’s done up for Halloween as well.

Camp Spooky runs weekends October 5th through -October 27th and is included with regular park admission. Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park operating hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Knott’s Scary Farm 2013

GET READY TO SCREAM…it’s that time of year when Knott’s Scary Farm’s Halloween Haunt returns to Knott’s and it’s going be Scare-tastic! the Haunt is one of the must-do things to do in Southern California for Halloween, and people from all over the southland look forward to going every year to get their screams on!

last year, i was scared out of my pants at Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween Haunt but it was the best kind of scare ever!!!! my hubby and i had the perfect date night complete with the Pre-scare Dinner and fun evening with friends. while the kids were at home tucked into their beds having sweet dreams, the hubby and i were having nightmares of monsters, goblins and witches. AHHHHH…..even the photo booths are scary…check us out LOL.

seriously,  there was nothing more fun than grabbing on to my hubby and screaming for dear life. and you’re in luck because you can already start planning the perfect Halloween date night. tickets for Knott’s Scary Farm’s Halloween Haunt are ON SALE NOW!  in addition, i would like to give you some tips for planning the most scare-tastic date night at Scary Farm. (or a girls/guys/friends night out)

eat some yummy Knott’s food at the Pre-Scare BOO-fet and get into the Haunt EARLY! we all love the nostalgic Knott’s food complete with boysenberry pie….plus getting into early means you’ll get the most scares! the Pre-scare BOO-fet is held each evening before the park opens for the Haunt. enjoy a buffet dinner and then head into the park an hour earlier than everyone. you had me at food, so you know where i will be. i hope you will join me at the Pre-scare BOO-fet!

bypass the lines for the mazes! by purchasing Fright Lane with Skeleton Key with your admission, you will be allowed to bypass the regular lines for 11 mazes as many times as you want all night long. and by using the all-new Skeleton Key (included with all Fright Lane passes), you can unlock additional rooms and interactive scares in select mazes. if you want a Fight Lane pass, i suggest you purchase it soon, as this popular offering is expected to sell out!

get the ultimate scare. make a reservation for TRAPPED, an interactive maze that leads guests into an abyss of their deepest fears and phobias. it’s scary…really scary…trust me, i did it last year. you become part of the horror and are an active participant in your own demise.  be prepared to enter a nightmare designed exclusively for you and face the challenge of finding an escape?  (reservations are required. additional fee. Knott’s Scary Farm admission is required)

worried about staying out late and driving home? how about staying over at the Knott’s Hotel. Knott’s has put some amazing hotel packages together that include admission, parking and more. the prices are a great deal and after all that screaming, i’m sure it will be nice to enjoy the rest of the night in a comfy hotel bed. i would have to say that this would be The Ultimate Knott’s Scary Farm date night!

Sneak Peek at Knott’s Boardwalk Expansion

hey! do you know where i am? i’m behind the scenes at Knott’s Berry Farm’s Boardwalk Expansion project. you know how much i love Knott’s, so when they invited me to check out what is happening on the Knott’s Boardwalk, i was excited to check it out.

opening May 28th, Knott’s Berry Farm will be opening some new attractions along the Knott’s Boardwalk, including a roller coaster, two rides and the refurbished Timber Mountain Log Ride.

and the rides are going to be great, classic boardwalk carnival rides perfect for families. the Pacific Scrambler will be one of my kids favorites.

and the Surfside Gliders, which i never tried, look like so much fun.

and this. the Coast Rider is a unique rollercoaster that zig zags in the sky. i hear that it’s a lot faster than it looks. be prepared for a wild ride.

and lastly, one of Knott’s favorites, the Timber Mountain Log Ride open since 1969, has been getting a complete makeover. however it will keep it’s old time charm, but will now be furbished with robotic, life-like miners, animals and landscapes.

Knott’s is working round the clock to make our favorite log ride attraction and new and exciting pastime to share with our friends and family. here is a sneak peek of the action.

yep, not much to see yet, but i hear it’s going to be fantastic. so be sure to make plans to ride it this summer. the kiddies and i are super excited. we have this fun memory of riding it together. ha ha ha…they loved it!

and we can’t wait for the rest of the Knott’s Boardwalk to open either.
