Apple pie play dough.

to follow the theme of doing apple activities all week, Kyle and i made apple pie play dough. i saw that i already had all of the ingredients, a big plus, so we whipped up a batch in 10 minutes. i have actually never made play dough before and am so surprised how easy it is.

wow….it smells gooooooood, and so much fun to play with too!

here is what you need to make some of you own:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon cream of tarter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup apple juice
red food coloring (just add until you get the desired color)
mix all of the ingredients together in a sauce pan.
place on medium high heat on the stove
stir frequently until the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the pan.
remove from the stove.
let dough cool enough to handle, then knead the dough.
place it in an airtight container.
( i didn’t have allspice, so i used cloves? probably didn’t need it, but it still smelled great)

  1. Wow, this is a great idea. I bet it helps the kids smell great, too! Wonderful job.

  2. That is great…my four year old will love this, he loves play dough

  3. This is perfect! Can’t wait to try this with my girls!

  4. Those spices sound really yummy, but I’m curious if the apple juice would start a fermenting process.

  5. omg!…this sounds wonderful!…i love me some playdough!…and to have it smell like apple pie!…are you kidding me?…love it!…
