Amazing news! Disney's THE LION KING has come to Orange County, making its triumphant return to Segerstrom Center for the Arts! It's highly-anticipated 3-week run begins February 1 - 25, 2024.
THE LION KING is celebrating 25 landmark years on Broadway, continuing to memorize audiences as one of the most popular stage musicals in the world. I don't know about you, but I am so happy that it has come back to Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts. It was the FIRST BROADWAY SHOW that I took my boys too! And now I can't wait to take my little girl.
If you have the opportunity to see this show you're in for an AMAZING treat! The cast of course is AMAZING, the music is AMAZING, the scenery and special effects are AMAZING. It will be everything you hope for in a Disney production.
THE LION KING also makes an incredible date night and or family night on Broadway! The perfect chance to expose your children to the arts!
Most importantly, being able to see it at your Orange County home theater is super special. I just love the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. It's a great theater, with great amenities located nearby.
May I suggest dinner at Claim Jumper South Coast Plaza. They have themed menu items for every Segerstrom Musical, and you can park and walk across the bridge which makes it super convenient.

About the Show
Experience the vibrant stage adaptation of Disney's Academy Award-winning 1994 film, "The Lion King." Giraffes strut. Birds swoop. Gazelles leap. Get ready to be dazzled as the entire Serengeti comes to life as never before! And as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly emerges from the mist. This is Disney’s THE LION KING...a 6-time Tony Award winner!
The music in "The Lion King" on Broadway includes songs by Elton John and Tim Rice from the movie, as well as three new songs by John and Rice. There's also additional music by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. They mixed Western pop music with the unique sounds and rhythms of Africa, creating a blend that ranges from the famous “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” to Lebo M’s beautiful choral pieces.
The premise of the show - Follow the tale of a young lion prince in the thriving African Pride Lands. After a tragic event orchestrated by Simba’s sinister uncle, Scar, Simba leaves his home.
With two amusing and unexpected friends by his side, Simba begins a new journey. However, as the burden of responsibility and a plea from the struggling Pride Lands reach him in adulthood, Simba faces a formidable enemy and must embrace his destiny as king.

Is The Lion King good for kids?
Disney's The Lion King makes a great first Broadway show for kids. Disney recommends this production for ages 6 and up. The show is very entertaining and the music is fun. However, there are times when the music, lighting and sound effects can be viewed as scary for kids...similar to the movie. So make your own decision whether it's right for your family. Production uses strobe lights. All guests entering the theater, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
