By Jill Parkin • Published: May 3, 2015 · Updated: May 2, 2024

Mother's Day is just a week away, that means deciding on the perfect Mother's Day breakfast menu. I love to make a special Mother's Day breakfast for the mothers in my life, and my favorite would be this Orange Marmalade & Cream Cheese Croissant French Toast with Orange Syrup recipe. It's definitely a crowd pleaser with its sweet orange syrup and filling of orange marmalade and cream cheese.

It might look complicated, but it's fairly easy to make this special Mother's Day breakfast recipe. It's basically your standard french toast recipe, except you use a croissant instead of bread, and you fill the croissant with orange marmalade and cream cheese.

Here are the groceries I bought in order to make this Orange Marmalade & Cream Cheese Croissant French Toast:

  • Croissants
  • Orange marmalade
  • Cream cheese
  • Eggs
  • Half & half
  • Orange juice
  • Corn starch
  • Sugar
  • Butter

How to Make Orange Marmalade & Cream Cheese Croissant French Toast

Step 1 - Cut the croissants in half and spread cream cheese on one half.

Step 2 - Spread marmalade over the cream cheese.

Step 3 - In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups of half & half and the eggs. This will be the french toast mixture.

Step 4 - In a non-stick frying pan, melt some butter or spray with cooking spray.

Step 5 - Dip the orange marmalade and cream cheese filled croissant quickly into the egg mixture just until fully coated. Be careful not to saturate it.

Step 6 - Place the coated croissant into the heated frying pan.

Step 7 - Cook over medium heat, turning on both sides until toasted brown and cooked through. Remove from heat.

To keep the croissant french toast warm before serving, place into a 250ºf oven on a baking sheet until ready to serve.

How to Make Fresh Orange Syrup for French Toast

Step 1 - To make the Orange Syrup, whisk together orange juice, sugar, corn starch, and water in a small saucepan.

Step 2 - Heat on medium high, stirring constantly until the syrup is boiling and starts to thicken.

Step 3 - Once the syrup is thickened, add butter. Stir until fully combined. Pour into a serving dish.

Serve the Orange Marmalade & Cream Cheese Croissant French Toast immediately or warm with the orange syrup. Makes 8 servings. They pair great with fresh fruit, eggs or quiche and breakfast meats such as bacon or ham.

This is one breakfast or brunch recipe that will sure to delight your party guests and mothers in your life. It is one of my all-time favorites, and I hope that your family enjoys it as much as my family does.

Enjoy!!!!

We've been looking for something special to make for Mother's Day, this might be it. My husband loves orange marmalade, but I might also try it with strawberry jam. #client
