feeling lucky.

i went outside to take my oldest to school and i felt a gentle warm breeze. i am so excited about the California weather we will be having this week. low 80’s this entire week! and my house is clean, and there is no laundry in sight. however, i have a ton of work for Jill Parkin Designs, but i am so grateful for that. with the baby coming in just 6 weeks, i am happy to be able to earn a little income before things are sure to get busy. and if you’d like, Fox LA is having a contest to pick some of the best businesses in the OC. Jill Parkin Designs has been nominated in the wedding invitation category. so if you have a minute…check it out here. i would love your vote.

so yes, i am feeling lucky this week. and today i will be doing my grocery shopping (gotta get green food for some St. Patrick’s Day lunches for the kiddies & Lucky Charms for our Leprechaun traps), and i am thinking that i better start getting stuff ready for this baby. because time is running out.

and besides this being a lucky green week with St. Patrick’s Day and all, it will be my birthday tomorrow. so that means i must have a giveaway tomorrow, be on the lookout. it will only be one day long. so i hope this is your lucky week too!

sandy toes & popsicles giveaway! times up!

for me the one hard thing about having little ones, is actually having time to spend on the hobbies i used to have plenty of time for. although, working from home also takes my free time away, i usually choose to spend what free time i do have playing with my boys. i like to get out of the house and take them places and forget about the work i have at home.

recently, i have been wanting to sew. something i used to do frequently. however, since i only have little boys, options for sewing for them are much less than if i had little girls. but lately i have started making them these applique shirts. i made them some for the 4th of July here, and just finished making my youngest one with his first initial. the picture on this post is one i made for my little niece. they are much more cute in person!
these shirts are super simple and i will be posting a tutorial on how to make them yourself this week. you don’t even have to have a sewing machine. so stay tuned for that.

in the meantime, here is a chance for one of my blog readers to have me make an applique shirt for their little kiddie pie.
to enter the giveaway, just leave a comment below telling me one of you favorite hobbies. enter as many times as you’d like. i will then randomly choose the winner on thursday, august 13th. if you win, i will make you a personalized shirt for your little kiddie pie. you will get to pick the letter or number that i will applique and if you want short or long sleeve shirt or onesie. you can also tell me a few of your favorite colors and i will do my best to find the shirt and fabric in those choices.
oh yeah…if you want daily sandy toes & popsicles updates sent directly to your email, subscribe to my blog (in the right column). don’t worry, i don’t share that info with anyone. and the sandy toes & popsicles newsletter is in the works and just about ready to email out, so if you would like to receive it, sign up soon.
good luck!,
